Turkish wine is made within the transcontinental eurasian of Turkey. The caucasus area, where georgia and iran are located, played a pivotal characteristic within the early records of wine, and is probable to one of the earliest wine-generating areas of the region.
Ampelographers estimate that Turkey is home to amongst 600–1200 indigenous styles of vitis vinifera (the EU grapevine), but less than 60 of these are grown commercially. With over 1,500,000 acres (6,100 km2) planted, Turkey is the sector's fourth- most important producer of grapes.
