Glen Breton Rare 10 Year Old, North America’s first single malt whisky, has been awarded Double Gold at two international competitions in 2026, along with a 95-point Gold Medal at the New York International Spirits Competition.
HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA — Glen Breton Distillery is proud to announce that Glen Breton Rare 10 Year Old has received back-to-back Double Gold honours in 2026:
At the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Double Gold is awarded only when every judge on the panel rates a spirit Gold.
The New York International Spirits Competition, now in its 17th year, drew more than 1,400 submissions from over 39 countries in 2026. Entries are judged blind by top trade buyers, including importers, distributors and retailers, who score each spirit by its category and price.
Glen Breton Rare 10 Year Old is crafted at Glenora Distillery on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and aged a full decade. Bottled at 43% alc./vol., it offers orange, earthy spice, chocolate and cherry on the nose; the palate brings hazelnut and ripe cherry, and the long finish turns to ginger and crisp apple. It is enjoyed neat in a Glencairn or snifter, or as the backbone of an Old Fashioned, a Manhattan or a Penicillin.

Across the range, Glen Breton Rare 21 Year Old also earned Double Gold with 96 points at the 2026 New York International Spirits Competition, following Gold for Glen Breton Rare 14 Year Old at the 2026 L.A. Spirits Awards and Gold Winner / Best Single Malt Whisky for the 21 Year Old at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards.
